J.5/ Winter on Tamborine Mountain: The Best Things to Do During Your Cosy Stay at The Maple Suite
When winter rolls over Tamborine Mountain, something magical happens. The mountain air turns crisp, the rainforest comes alive with mist and dew, and the whole region feels quieter, cosier, and more romantic. If you're staying at The Maple Suite, you're perfectly placed to enjoy all the warmth and wonder that winter has to offer — whether you’re snuggling in or heading out.
Here are our favourite ways to embrace the cooler months during your winter stay.
1. Get Cosy at The Maple Suite
First things first — winter is peak cosy season, and The Maple Suite was made for it.
Enjoy a warm drink from our curated tea selection snuggled on the couch.
Watch the mist drift through the treetops from your private deck.
Binge your favourite Netflix series or flip through our coffee table books.
Enjoy slow mornings with mountain views.
Sometimes the best plan is… no plan at all.
2. Take a Misty Morning Forest Walk
The rainforest trails around Tamborine Mountain are extra beautiful in winter — think mist through the trees, damp earth underfoot, and the occasional wallaby or pademelon darting past.
Some of our favourite winter walks:
Witches Falls Circuit – Starts just a few minutes from the suite and is peaceful and gentle.
Palm Grove Walk – A short, lush escape perfect for a quiet, solo morning stroll.
Cedar Creek Falls Lookout – Stunning after rain, and less crowded in the cooler months.
💡 Tip: Bring a thermos and enjoy a tea break mid-hike.
3. Warm Up with Wine (and Cheese)
Winter is wine season on the mountain — and there’s no shortage of charming wineries nearby:
Witches Falls Winery – The ultimate winter wine stop: rich reds, cheese boards, and warm blankets on the outdoor seats.
Cedar Creek Estate – Cosy up indoors with a wine flight or explore the underground Glow Worm Caves.
Hampton Estate Wines – Enjoy wine by the fire or stay for a long, warm lunch.
You can also stock up on goodies for a DIY wine & cheese night back at the suite.
4. Indulge in Winter Wellness
There’s something about cold air and hot water that just works. Treat yourself to a wellness experience while you're here:
Verandah House Country Estate – Massages, facials, hot tubs, and firepits. It’s heaven. Don’t skip the cheese board.
SOL Elements Japanese Bathhouse – Brand new and beautiful. Soak, steam, and rejuvenate in total serenity.
Perfect for solo self-care or a romantic afternoon.
5. Fuel Up with Hot Drinks & Hearty Brunch
Winter = comfort food. Luckily, Tamborine does it well:
Franquette Bakery – Their famous almond croissant is even better on a cold morning (go early!).
Picnic Real Food Bar – Cosy, wholesome, and perfect for brunch.
Provedore – Delicious gourmet sandwiches and top-notch coffee to warm you up.
Tamborine Coffee Plantation – Sit outside in the winter sun with a hot latte and a fresh scone.
6. Catch a Winter Sunset
Hang Gliders Lookout is the place to watch the winter sun sink behind the mountains. Take along the rug and picnic basket from The Maple Suite, a hot drink or a glass of wine, and just enjoy the moment.
Afterwards, head to St Bernards Hotel or Bailey’s Irish Pub for a cosy drink by the fire.
7. Slow Shopping on Gallery Walk
In winter, Gallery Walk is quieter — and it’s the perfect time to wander the boutique shops:
Long Road Collective – Our favourite for gifts and homewares.
Mountain Candle Co. – Stock up on candles to take that mountain mood home with you.
Angela’s Pantry, Witchscents Organics, e360 Design – All worth popping into for thoughtful finds.
